What Are Health and Fitness Calculators?

BMI, body composition, calorie tracking, heart rate training zones, medication dosing — this section covers the health math that most people either guess at or pay someone else to figure out. Every tool here is grounded in clinical formulas and exercise science, not bro-science or guesswork.

I source every formula from peer-reviewed research and clinical guidelines (Mifflin-St Jeor for BMR, Katch-McArdle for body composition, WHO standards for BMI). These calculators are for informational purposes and should complement — not replace — actual medical advice. But in my experience, walking into a doctor's appointment with your own numbers gives you a much better conversation.

Body Composition

BMI, body fat percentage, lean mass, ideal weight — the numbers that actually tell you where you stand. Each tool uses multiple validated formulas so you're not relying on just one equation.

Nutrition & Diet

Calculate your daily calorie needs, set macro targets, and plan your nutrition. Start with TDEE to find your maintenance calories, then use Macros to dial in protein, carbs, and fat.

Fitness & Exercise

Pace calculators, heart rate training zones, VO2max estimates, and calorie burn tracking. Whether you're training for a 5K or just trying to figure out what zone 2 actually means.

Pregnancy & Family

Due date estimation, ovulation tracking, pregnancy weight gain, and week-by-week milestones. All based on standard clinical guidelines (Naegele's rule, IOM recommendations).

Medical & Clinical

A1C conversion, kidney function (GFR), blood pressure interpretation, sleep cycle planning. These are clinical-grade tools — still worth discussing results with your doctor, but great for going in prepared.

Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is BMI?
BMI works as a quick screening tool, but it can't tell the difference between muscle and fat. A muscular person can easily score "overweight" while being in great shape. It also ignores where you carry fat — which matters a lot for health risk. Pair it with body fat percentage and waist-to-hip ratio for a more honest picture.
How many calories should I eat per day?
It depends on your age, weight, height, and how active you are. The TDEE Calculator gives you a personalized number. Most adults land somewhere between 1,600 and 3,000 calories daily. If you're trying to lose weight, cutting about 500 calories per day works out to roughly a pound per week.
What is a healthy body fat percentage?
For men, 10–20% is generally considered fit and 21–25% is average. For women, 18–28% is fit, 29–35% is average. You can't go below about 3–5% (men) or 10–13% (women) without serious health risks — that's your essential fat. Athletes tend to sit lower than the general population, but "lower" doesn't always mean "better."
